WASCAL Scholarship 2025 by German Government for African Students (Fully Funded)
The West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) has officially launched its call for applications for its PhD and Master’s programmes in Climate Change, for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The WASCAL Scholarship is open to students from 12 West African countries. This marks another significant step in empowering the next generation of climate leaders across the region.
The WASCAL Climate Change Programmes, including PhD and Master’s degrees, continue to address the urgent need for climate resilience in West Africa.
With the backing of the Government of Germany, through the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), along with renowned German universities, these programmes offer exceptional scholarship opportunities for qualified students.
The Wascal Scholarship is a fully funded opportunity to study in West African universities and Germany. it covers the full university fees, monthly stipends, accommodation, and the costs of flights to and from the countries.

To apply for the German Government Wascal Scholarship 2025, interested and qualified applicants should follow the steps below;

- select one of the available fully funded Masters or Doctoral programs.
- ensure to go through the full details and guidelines for each program.
- download and fill out the application form correctly.
- prepare the application documents (make sure to follow the guidelines for naming each document as stated in each guideline).
- submit your application as soon as possible by email to the appropriate WASCAL address.
- all applications must be received by January 15, 2025.
- shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for interviews.
