To support continued growth, Trillium is seeking a talented Full-Time Agri-Business Underwriter. This role can be based remotely or in a hybrid capacity, depending on the candidate’s location within Ontario.
Reporting directly to the Team Leader of Agri-Business & Commercial Auto Underwriting, the Agri-Business Underwriter will work closely with broker partners to deliver tailored insurance solutions for Trillium’s diverse agri-business clients.
Key Responsibilities of the Agri-Business Underwriter
The Agri-Business Underwriter will perform a variety of functions to support Trillium’s commitment to excellent service and client satisfaction. Primary responsibilities include:
- Policy Management: Quoting, underwriting, and issuing new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations for farm property insurance policies.
- Sales and Upselling: Identifying opportunities to promote additional products, coverage options, and policy limits, maximizing value for clients.
- Risk Management: Conducting risk reviews and inspections, assessing potential hazards, and developing risk management recommendations.
- Broker Relations: Establishing and nurturing strong relationships with broker partners to ensure seamless communication and client satisfaction.
- Professional Development: Keeping current with industry and market trends, particularly as they pertain to the agri-business sector.
- Collaboration: Sharing expertise with team members and collaborating on projects to enhance service quality.
- Industry Engagement: Representing Trillium at industry and agricultural events, including trade shows and conferences.
Who We’re Looking For
Trillium is seeking a service-oriented, driven professional who aligns with the following qualifications and attributes:
- Educational Background: A diploma in Insurance, or a comparable combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- Industry Experience: Prior experience in agricultural or farm operations, combined with familiarity in the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance sector, with a focus on agri-business or commercial lines.
- Professional Certification: CIP designation or active progress toward obtaining it.
- Skill Set: Strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiation abilities; detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Innovative Thinking: Ability to think creatively and proactively seek solutions in a dynamic environment.
- Communication Excellence: Exceptional oral and written communication skills, along with well-developed interpersonal abilities.
- Team Player: Able to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a cohesive team.
- Driving Requirements: A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
