The applications are open to apply for the IMF Fund Internship Program 2025. The Fund Internship Program (FIP) is a fully funded summer internship in the USA.

This program is open to all students from all nationalities. For the IMF Internship 2025, approximately 50 students from around the world will join at IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C. The IMF FIP is a 10-12 week paid internship between June and September 2025.

Under the guidance of an experienced IMF colleague, you will conduct research and analysis on a topic determined by the Fund. Your work may culminate in a research paper and may be published internally.

To be eligible for the IMF FIP, you must be enrolled as a student in any university around the world. The IMF Fund Internship is open to the enrolled students only.

The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Internship Program (FIP) is an exciting and challenging internship. There is no application fee.

Requirements for the Fund Internship Program 2025 by IMF

To compete for the FIP, at a minimum you must meet the following criteria:

PhD students

  • Be within one to two years of completing a PhD in macroeconomics or a related field.
  • Be in student status at the time of the internship (i.e. continuing PhD studies after the internship).
  • Be below the age of 32 at the commencement of the internship.
  • Have an excellent command of English, written and oral.
  • Possess strong analytical, quantitative and computer skills.

Required Documents for Fund Internship Program 2025 by IMF

To be considered, you must complete an online job application, provide responses to all the questions and upload the following as attachments under “Resume”:

  • A personal CV/Resume.
  • A recent transcript for the university program in which you are currently registered, or a letter from your university, confirming your active student status and recent grades.

Only candidates who are identified for further consideration will be contacted by a FIP recruiter/hiring team. Incomplete applications will be rejected.

Visa Requirements for Fund Internship Program 2025 by IMF

  • If you are not a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S., and do not have another work authorization that would allow you to work at the IMF, you will need a G4 visa.
  • We will provide the paperwork necessary to facilitate your G4 visa request with U.S. authorities.

Note

Successful applicants will undertake a 10-12 week paid internship between June and September 2025. The precise dates of the internship will be agreed between the intern and IMF supervisor at time of offer. The internship will be in-person located at the IMF headquarters in Washington DC.
